If you come before God right now and were asked “Why should I let you into heaven?”
What would your answer be?
Our sin separates us from God.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23
For
the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus Christ loves us and died for our sins. John 3:16 Jesus
said
“For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.”
Faith in Jesus
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved.
God’s desire for us is eternal life.
Eternal life is a gift from God. Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Our life can be full and meaningful right now! Jesus said
John 10:10 “The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.”
Jesus said that we will spend
eternity with him in heaven. John 14:3
“And if I
go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
What we need is the answer to a meaningful life. Our sinful nature keeps us from living out God’s plan for our lives. We are sinners by nature. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
We cannot save ourselves. Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest
any man should boast.
We deserve death and Hell. Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God has provided. God is holy and just and cannot look upon our sin.
God loves us so much that he provides a way to forgive our sin.
Jesus said in John 14:6
“I
am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Jesus is God in a man’s earthly body. John 1:1,14
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…..And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the
only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus died on the cross for us. 1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also hath once suffered for
sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put
to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.
God calls us to himself through the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said in
John 6:44
“No
man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I
will raise him up at the last day.”
We need to respond. We must receive
Jesus for the change to come to our lives. The Bible says in
John 1:12
But as
many as received him, to them gave he power
to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
We must turn away from sin. Acts
3:19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that
your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord.
Repentance is more than just feeling sorry for our sins. We must turn
away from sin and look to God through Jesus. Acts 26:20b
….that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for
repentance.
Faith in Jesus is the only way. Ephesians 2:8
For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift of God.
Faith is more than just believing in Jesus. James
2:19
Thou
believest that there is one God; thou doest
well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Trust in Jesus.
Romans 10:9-10
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:21
“Not
every one that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Being saved is more than words, it is
giving complete control of our lives to Jesus.
Revelation 3:20
“Behold,
I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the
door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
