From the beginning to now, here is a collection that tells the history of PBC. God has been so good to us and continues to bless this body every day.  Come and see the past 50 years in the life of our church.

On May 1^st, 1952, a group of people belonging to the Wilmington Baptist Church met together and voted to organize a new church to be known as Piner Baptist church. There were 27 people at the first gathering. Soon 72 people had expressed a desire to become members of this church. By organization day, June 22nd, 1952, a total of 110 people had signed a register to become charter members. A committee was formed to purchase one acre for the building site. Work was begun on the new education building on May 30th, 1952. Sunday School enrollment at this time was 113.

A constitution was adopted, officers were elected and Bro. Grover F. Tyner of Louisville , Ky. was called as pastor. Work on the new educational building progressed rapidly and on September 28th, 1952 the building was dedicated. Bro. Don Gambrell of Erlanger Baptist Church gave the dedication sermon.

Piner Baptist participated in many worthy causes from the beginning, such as helping support the Old Folks Home, Baptist Orphans Homes at Louisville, The Cooperative Program, Kenton County Protestant Association, Oneida Institute and others. In the summer of 1952 Piner Baptist Church joined other local churches in a tent meeting. In November, Bro. T.H. Shelton of Latonia Baptist Church led a revival.

By April of 1953 the church membership was at 119 and Sunday School enrollment was 134. A parsonage was purchased in 1953. Having received so many blessings during the first year as a church, we were spurred on by faith to carry on God’s work in the community. Piner Baptist Church had a great year in 1953 with the Stewardship Revival and school of missions. Bro. Tyner offered his resignation in October 1953, so he could return to Louisville to pursue his doctoral studies.

Bro. Robert Wilson of Louisville , Ky. was called as our pastor and began in January 1954. The church continued to grow rapidly. Special youth work services were held April 23-25, 1954. The youth gained lots of experience conducting the services. Bro. Jutt Garrett was the guest speaker.

The note on the educational building was paid in full on June 30th, 1954. In August 1954 a revival was held with Bro. Jim Coldron of Covington, Ky. Fifteen people were baptized and two received by letter. Under Bro. Wilson’s efficient leadership our church was growing spiritually and physically. At this time we had W.M.U., Brotherhood, G.A. and R.A. groups formed. Sunday School and Training Union were growing rapidly.

On September 1st, 1955 a planning committee was appointed to study plans for a new auditorium.
